Talk about a Wet Bar! – Cleveland Point – Queensland

Talk about a Wet Bar! – Cleveland Point – Queensland

In my last post I mentioned that it was wet and blustery but I had no idea it was as bad as this!  While I was calmly taking pictures in my garden of the lorikeets in the rain, this is what was going on at Cleveland Point which is about a ten minute drive from where I live.

“The Lighthouse” Restaurant and Bar cops a tidal thrashing

My parents, my husband and I sat at one of these outside tables just before Christmas last year, enjoying fresh fish and chips!  There was a squally see breeze that day also and we had to move our table well out of the way of the encroaching waves but nothing like  this!

The Lighthouse restaurant is a special place for me as when my husband I had just started seeing each other, before we were married, he took me to this restaurant for a beautiful meal to celebrate my Birthday.  It is right on Morteton Bay and I will never forget the evening.  At night, the setting is even more spectacular and we had after dinner drinks with the owner at that time who introduced us to the liqueur Jägermeister.

I must confess that one of my all time fears  is deep water, surf and drowning.  Coming from Scotland, I never really experienced the ocean or swimming much in the sea as it is such a cold climate.  I did not learn to swim, in fact, until I was in my mid teens and still at High School and even now I am a weak swimmer.

I often have nightmares of floods and they are more frequent now since the very first Tsunami in Thailand which scares me enormously to the point where I will never live in a house near water.
